Oh man oh man, my review is super long overdue ! My husband and I were down in San Diego for twitchcon and we figured we had to do omakase while we were down there. I really wanted to go to soichi sushi but trying to get a reservation was a little intense so i went down the Reddit rabbit hole and found hidden fish! The reviews were great and the reservation process was super smooth i believe it had a reservation fee (i didn't plan this my husband did and im a little lazy to check lol) We arrived on time to our reservation, the parking lot was a little small but we found parking, i say get there at least 10 minutes early just in case. When you walk in they have you seating based on the menu experience you choose. I believe we went together the 18 piece omakase course, and our chef was Louie (i had to deep dive down the reviews to find out his name, but i know it was Louie because my coworker has the same name! lol ) Louie noticed i was taking pictures and made sure i had the nicest looking pieces, i always appreciate that! I can't recall each piece and from what i was told the menu changes seasonally based of what fish they have for that season. You're given a pencil to write off which pieces you like because at the end of the course, you can order pieces to fill you up. My husband and i were having a blast, we felt like little food critics giving each piece a star or 5 depending on what we thought. In the end i have to say the hand roll and one of the signature nigiri ended up being my favorite. Also the scallop nigiri because it's so rich in flavor. All the nigiri was amazing, none of them were lacking in flavor and all of them were perfectly season. We also did a sake which i honestly can't remember the name of but it was great. The ambiance there was nice and peaceful and the experience felt very personal, like we had our own chef dedicated to making sure you had a nice time. Louie was funny and did a great job talking with us and making sure we enjoyed our food. I'm not gonna lie and say it was a cheap date night but definitely worth the price with the experience we had and very god quality fish. It's something we hope to come back to next year and experience again. 100 /10 Must try!

Excellent experience! The space is intimate with 8-10 seats around the bar; four diners per chef. Everyone greeted us warmly and were very attentive throughout. There wasn't a single piece that I disliked. All pieces were high quality, fresh, and prepared well. All garnishes used enhanced each piece without overpowering it. Special shoutout to our chef, Peter, who prepared and timed each piece perfectly. Very worthwhile experience!

Jenny was very friendly and made the whole experience welcoming. Sam, our chef, was very informative and talkative. Ask for Sam when you dine here! - Omakase 5/5 WOW. The quality of the fish is insane. It's so fresh and each one is juicy. I love the extra little sides they put on the fish. It really highlights the fish and enhances the taste. Also, the Uni + ikura is one of the most fresh I've ever tasted. The Uni is SO creamy and delicious. Also love the choices of sake!

My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and it was the best surprise ever. The space is limited as there were only 8 people sitting at the bar, but it made the atmosphere a more intimate setting. Our chef Louie did a fantastic job of making sure we were informed of every piece that was coming our way. And every piece was perfectly crafted. I didn't want to stop chewing the Otoro piece because I didn't want my experience to end. 10/10 thanks for making our night special!!

Yep. 5 stars for sure. All the check boxes checked on high end omakase to do list. Well worth the money I paid. $250 total with omakase, 2 additional sushi, booze, tax and 20% tip. One complaint I have is. Over use of Himalayan salt. Come on man. Surprise me with different varieties of salt. And otoro with cavier and truffle. Well. It was fun for the experience. But I actually enjoyed the omakase sushis way more.

Hosted my birthday here previously and I couldn't say enough about the positive experience with the hidden fish team. The omakase menu exceeded our expectations and my party guests were also beyond satisfied with their experience as well. The Chef's all had a great sense of humor, and will toast with you if the timing is right during service. The ambiance was very intimate. The menu paired well with Chef's favorite sake on the menu. We are definitely due for another visit.

Holy smokes this place is absolutely amazing! Shoutout to my sushi chef, Louie, for being soo great and kind the entire time. He was efficient and executed each piece of sushi beautifully. I loved the intimate setting this place has with their simple decor. They want you to focus on the food, which I appreciate. My date and I got some sake. Normally I'm not a hot sake person, but the server recommended the Taiheizan and I'm really glad we listened. It was delicious and the service in general exceeded expectations. They would refill your cups immediately when they were running low and were always right there available for questions or assistance. Now for the menu itself: it honestly just kept getting better and better with each new piece I tried. Everything was extremely fresh and well balanced with its other ingredients. The only ones I didn't love were the Fluke Fin Muscle (just didn't live up to the others) and the Uni + Ikura (not surprising as I don't like uni). I had soo many favorites, it is honestly so very hard to name some: Barracuda, Striped Bonito, Yellowtail, Black Cod and Albacore. 1000% would want to come back here. Honestly, I wish Louie came home with me so I could have him make more for me or teach me. If I could afford to come here every day, I honestly would.
